Everyday Needs, Ponsonby

It's always great to see New Zealand's business featured internationally - this time, it is Katie Lockhart's new store Everyday Needs on US website, Remodelista. Now open on Ponsonby Road, the store looks beautiful and will be on my agenda when I next visit Auckland.

Interior Moments

The Fat Radish, New York. Photo:  Alice Gao

Here are some different interior moments that have been inspiring some jobs of mine lately. For example, I am working on a kitchen that has a slight country feel and the interior above with its grey-green T & G panel and white subway tiles has been an influence. It doesn't take much for inspiration to strike.

Venice Beach Home

This relaxed residential home located at Venice Beach, Los Angeles has struck a chord with me. Designed by Simo Design, I really like the smart, clean lines and refined spaces. The details and furnishings complete the fresh and homely feel. After visiting Venice Beach earlier this year, I think this aesthetic really suits the cool vibe of the town.

Craft Cafe in Paris

Spotted on Remodelista this morning is this stylish Parisian cafe with a great concept. Aimed to the creatively inclined, Craft is halfway a coffee, reading and co working space. Designed by Paris based design firm PoolCraft serves to the self employed creatives (like me!), who are mobile, skilled and more often than not connect with their clients and fellow workers away from the office. It also is another environment to be creative surrounded by others, rather than in isolation in front of the keyboard. Love this concept and this space - wish it was close to me and my fellow designers

Flowers from the Quintessential Magazine

Have you come across the Quintessential magazine yet? It is a online magazine curated by Sydney based Leanne Carter-Taylor and it is a visual feast!
The latest edition is all things flowers to celebrate the arrival of Spring and my favourite is 'The Portrait of a Flower' (as seen above and below). These scenes were styled by John Mangila and the photographs were taken by Sharyn Cairns - you will need to subscribe to the magazine (it's free!) to get access to these stunning shots and more.
Carter-Taylor is the creative mind and retailer behind Australia stores duckeggBLUE, a woman's clothing store; Quinessential duckegg BLUE, an antique and industrial furniture store as well as The Man Next Door, a men's clothing store. They all look amazing - on the list for when I eventually make my way to Sydney. And to top it off, she also has an amazing home - check it out on The Design Files.

Caravaggio Wall Lights

I am liking these new Lightyears Caravaggio wall  lights, designed by Danish designer, Cecilie Manz. The classic Caravaggio pendants were so popular when they were released and I'm thinking these will be the same. The refined wall lights have beautifully styled here by Lightyears for their catalogue and we are able to source this range in New Zealand through Corporate Culture.

Spring at Capital Magazine

It's September and Spring is upon us! We celebrate the changing of the season with 'Fresh Florals, Bright Pastels and Spring Clean' in the latest Capital magazine. Last month I had the pleasure to be the guest stylist for their 'Indoor' section and here is the result.
