Luxury Bathroom Furnishings

Check out the detailing and materials on these beautiful bathroom furnishings. I often design vanities for bathrooms I work on, however seeing these designs from Italian bathroom manufacturer, Altamarea just take it to another level. Beautifully detailed (look at that red lined drawer) while using inset marble stone tops to dramatic effect - this makes me want to lift my game.
Altamarea collaborate with renowned design studios to bring about these unique pieces and the furnishings you see here are from the Must Collection - the most luxurious line in their range. Stunning.

Warehouse Style Bachelor Pad

A former wool store was converted to create this warehouse style apartment for a bachelor in Brisbane, Australia. Designed by Wrightson Stewart, I like the masculine materials palette chosen here - timber flooring and joinery, marble bench top in the kitchen, black industrial lighting, tan leather sofa, white walls and the grey wool fabric. I am working on an apartment for a gentleman and while the building we are working on is more refined than this warehouse, I can still be inspired by the materials collated together here.

A Bar in Copenhagen

Ah, it's Friday - and lets finish the week with a cool and relaxed bar from Copenhagen called Lidkoeb. I would be happy here, easing back into one of those comfy Borge Mogensen's Spanish Chairs and catching up with friends at the end of the day. This feels like a cosy living room - inviting and comfortable, thanks to the use of warm timbers, leather and shaggy fur throws.

Wall Mounted Paper Roller by George and Willy

A client had the above image of the wall mounted paper roller on their Pinterest board and they were keen to find something similar for their new kitchen. I thought we would have to get it made - then boom, I found one. This paper roller is by George and Willy and it's made right here in New Zealand. Perfect.

Fritz Hansen 2013 Campaign

Check out these Fritz Hansen design classics so beautifully shot by Danish photographer, Ditte Isager for their 2013 campaign.
Well known pieces, like the Swan chair, the Egg chair (looking amazing in leather) and the Series 7 chair - make an appearance alongside the newly released Ro chair, which is a modern take on the wing chair. Aren't the images stunning?
And for a bit of fun today - do you think you know what your design aesthetic is? Do this not-so-serious quiz and find out! I got Scandinavian - no surprise there!

Uncomplicated Simplicity

The latest Urbis magazine is out and this issue is all about 'Coastal Living' - which on our rainy, cold summer day in Wellington makes one rather jealous.
This home on Manhattan Beach, California caught my eye. It was designed by, and is the home of, interior designer Mandy Graham. I like this timeless aesthetic - the tight palette of materials and simple details work together to make this compact home look very spacious. Get a copy of Urbis to see more of this uncomplicated and elegant home.

Picture Hanging

I brought a picture frame from Country Road last weekend and I came across this promotional video of theirs. It demonstrates how to hang your different frames to create an art cluster. They've done a great job and show how super easy it is. Nice one.
