VitraHaus + Artek with Studio Ilse

The living room of fictional characters, Harri and Astrid
Now this is a great collaboration that I am loving! Located in Weil am Rhein, a German town close to the borders of Switzerland and France, is VitraHaus, a building designed by Herzog and de Meuron, which displays the vast and amazing range of products from design company, Vitra.
The display spaces are regularly changed and the latest makeover is a reflection and celebration of Vitra's latest acquisition of Artek. Bring in Ilse Crawford from Studio Ilse into the fold and this is the great result. They have created a loft apartment for a creative fictional couple called Harri, a musician and Astrid, a set designer and their spaces are filled with aspirational pieces from the Artek range, founded by Alvar Aalto and Vitra. What a great way to display the furniture rather than behind glass as art pieces and clearly Harri and Astrid have done very well for themselves to have a stunning loft filled with design classics like this! Ah, one can dream - I'd move in in an instant!

Drift House - a Boutique Retreat

Drift House Suite One
Spotted recently on Est magazine is this stylish boutique retreat located in a coastal Australian town, four hours drive west of Melbourne, called Port Fairy (great name, right?).  Welcome to Drift House, a luxurious B & B with four private and self contained suites. Designed by Multiplicity, each suite has been individually designed to create a unique experience. Which one do you prefer? I think number one has my vote.

Pastels from Magasin Living

Pastels coming through in a big way for this SS14 collection by Danish home wares brand, Magasin Living. While Scandinavians are well known for their black, white and grey interiors, I like to see warmth and colour. There are some great pieces here and it has been beautifully captured by Copenhagen based photographer, Line T Klein.

The Dean Hotel, Providence

Here is a great boutique hotel that opened in January this year - it is called The Dean Hotel and is located in Providence, a small city between New York and Boston.
The building, a former homeless shelter followed by a strip club, has been stylishly revitalised by ASH NYC, a real estate development and design firm. The 52 rooms vary from 4 bed dorms through to a 4 suite apartment - I love those bathrooms! Original features of the building are maintained and enhanced with European and American antiques. Right - onto the list of places to visit. Have a happy and safe Easter everyone!
