A Beautifully Restored Sydney Home

Recently featured in the latest Vogue Living magazine is this beautifully restored late-Victorian terrace home in Sydney. A collaborative effort between interior designers, Juliette Arent and Sarah-Jane Pyke of Arent & Pyke and architect, Tom Ferguson of TFAD, who worked together to make the most of the wide frontage and high ceilings that this former boarding house had to offer.
The house has been beautifully composed with a mix of modern and vintage pieces used throughout, as well as a rich palette of colours and textures. This property has made the shortlist for the 2014 Australian Interior Design Awards for both the Residential Design and Residential Decoration sections.

Stylish Melbourne Home

Vogue Living posted this stylish Melbourne home yesterday and it is an interior that I have admired before. Designed by Hecker Guthrie, this interior that has been shortlisted for design awards - I like the materials used throughout and you can tell that the furnishings have been carefully considered. See more of the home here.
Enjoy and have a great weekend.

Warehouse Style Bachelor Pad

A former wool store was converted to create this warehouse style apartment for a bachelor in Brisbane, Australia. Designed by Wrightson Stewart, I like the masculine materials palette chosen here - timber flooring and joinery, marble bench top in the kitchen, black industrial lighting, tan leather sofa, white walls and the grey wool fabric. I am working on an apartment for a gentleman and while the building we are working on is more refined than this warehouse, I can still be inspired by the materials collated together here.

Whare Kea Chalet in Vogue Living

The Whare Kea Chalet in the Southern Alps.

This is Whare Kea Chalet, found high in the Southern Alps and accessible by a 20 minutes helicopter ride from Wanaka. Connected to Whare Kea Lodge, this chalet is used as a winter base for heliskiing daytrips and for overnight stays in the summer. Vogue Living has highlighted this chalet's use as an artist residence - imagine staying here for 10 days to be inspired by the remote location and its dramatic surroundings? Stunning. Read more about it here.

A Beach House in the Hamptons from Vogue Living

Check out the lime green Chesterfield sofa.

Pattern and colour with a great kilim inspired chair.

Hudson Bay point blankets on the bunk beds.

Outdoor movie viewing.

Here's an interesting character - Aussie ex-pat Richard Christiansen rented this house in Montauk, East Hampton and then re-decorated the whole house to his specifications for the summer. He also re-planted the garden and brought his own bees!
It was a job of great dedication, sourcing props and furnishings for the "hyper-colour" and vintage style that he desired, it even included a buying trip to Hawaii (I want to meet this guy).
Christiansen did worry the owners would discover what he had done to their house and having to move everything out at the end of the summer - in which case it was all happily resolved when the owners DID find out and were absolutely delighted with his efforts that they actually offered to sell the house to him. Sigh - what a great story. Read the Vogue Living article here.
