Isolated Cabin in Norway

Today we're getting a good taste of the winter season that is inevitably coming our way. So it seems appropriate to explore this cosy cabin found in an exposed and isolated island in northern Norway to get into the right mind-set. This cabin was designed by Swedish architect, Erik Kolman Janouch for three siblings to share together with their families.

The House in the Woods

Today's posting is about a house in the woods, but not as we know it.
These beautiful photographs are by Finnish amateur photographer, Kai Fagerstrom, who ventured in to the woods and came across what he thought was a group of empty dwellings. However, as he later found out they were definitely occupied - by wild woodland animals. Mice, badgers and foxes are among some of the animals that have made themselves at home and they have been beautifully captured by Fagerstrom. He explains to National Geographic that "there's consolation in the idea that nature is reclaiming the places it has lent to the people." Indeed.

Vintage Nature Collections

"A carefully laid out collection of eggs bought from a farmer who gathered them in the 1950's".

A striking butterfly collection sits alongside an oil painting and a boat propellor.
Just some vintage nature collection porn for a Tuesday evening. See the rest of this Victorian seaside cottage and its collections here.
