The secret to living in a small space? Being ruthless about unneccessary furniture.

The letters on the mantlepiece came from an old sign for a neighbourhood dry cleaning business.

Here is the New York apartment belonging to kiwis Miranda Demspter, an art director and her partner, tailor Gus McKay. This home made an appearance in HOME New Zealand magazine last month and has been featured in this week's NY Times.
The area of this rental apartment is 56 square metres - and Dempster talks of being ruthless while furnishing the small spaces carefully. Read the rest of the article here.

Ruschmeyer's by King & Grove

This is Ruschmeyer's, a hotel in Montauk, USA by the hotel group, King & Grove. While they have closed for their 2012 summer season, this is good inspiration for us getting ready for our up coming summer time. Evocative of a nautical summer camp, Ruschmeyer's has a cool relaxed vibe and is located on three acres on lakeside woodland. With plenty of activities available, the gorgeous fresh bedrooms and its own 'rum shack', you know you could have a great time here...

Golden Fields Restaurant and Bar, Melbourne

 

This is Golden Fields Restaurant and Bar, found in St Kilda, Melbourne. Recently awarded Best New Restaurant in 2012 Age Good Food Guide as well as chef Andrew McConnell receiving accolades for his modern Asian cuisine - it seems like this is the place to go to. The design of Golden Fields was overseen by Melbourne architectural firm, Projects of Imagination. The brief called for a subtle yet highly considered response - using craftmanship and attention to detail which complimented McConnell's approach to cooking. Hotel du Marc from Lonny

 

 

 

Reading the latest issue of Lonny magazine, I came across Hotel du Marc which is located in Reims, France. This is the guest house belonging to Veuve Clicquot, the famous champagne brand that we all love, and Lonny shows the results of its 4 year renovation. While some of the rooms are very elaborate, I do like the grand while simple bedroom and bathroom belonging to the 'Chevigne' suite - especially with  its 'dashes of Clicquot yellow'. Thonet BST 75 Barstools

I have been working on an office fitout and we are using the classic Thonet BST 75 barstools, which will be placed around a leaner made from Amercian ash, for the staff's lunchroom. The seat will be upholstered in leather to give a luxurious touch and comfort.
